Italian chef Andrea Statzu has sat at the helm of many kitchens—and is intent on continuing to do so.
Currently working as the Executive Chef of the Presidente Intercontinental Cancun Resort’s Italian restaurant, Alfredo di Roma in Mexico; Andrea’s job responsibilities include overseeing the restaurant’s operation, and presiding over food cost preparation, end presentations, staff training, supplier transaction, and banquet coordination.
Prior to this assignment, he was Sous Chef at Park Hyatt Hotel in Milan, Italy; and Sous Chef at Bistrot Duomo, a top restaurant in the same city. It was in the latter that he was given the chance to work with Gualtiero Marchesi, now among the most famous Italian chefs.
His culinary flair has also brought Andrea to Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) as the Head Chef in Advanced Food Preparation, a private restaurant; and to London, as the Junior Sous Chef of Bertorelli Restaurant and the Sous Chef of the Santini Group, Ltd.
Andrea holds a diploma in Account Management for Hotels and Restaurants from the Instituto Tecnico Commerciale in Italy; an H.A.C.C.P. Certificate for Hygienic Standard Control; and a First Certificate for the English Language from the Westminster College in London. He also underwent training in Baked and Plated Desserts at Felchin Co.’s Stage of Pastry and Bakery at Jeddah,KSA.
Apart from Italian pasta, pizza, desserts, and main dishes, Andrea's expertise also comprises plate presentations and kitchen leadership and management. |
